Letter to the Editor, Casa Grande Dispatch (published Sunday, February 8th, 2015)
The BlackBox Foundation is a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit arts organization whose mission is to create opportunities for members of our community to experience the arts through performance, education and advocacy. We have been very proud this past year to have served over 300 Casa Grande schoolchildren through after-school arts programs and youth theater programs, entertained more than 2,000 people at community theater and cultural events and to have co-sponsored a local Arts Impact Survey.
This past weekend, we hosted our first ever fundraising dinner for our organization at the new Hermosa Ballroom at Robson Ranch. It was called the “BlackBox Bash,” and it was a great success.
Thank you to everyone who helped us with this event, especially: Heather Hardesty and Betty Murphy from Robson Ranch; our emcee, “Wildman” Phil Rakoci; all of our entertainers; our volunteers who worked tirelessly in advance and on the day of; our board members; our corporate and individual sponsors and donors; our community partners; and, finally, our 250 attendees of the event, including a large Robson Ranch contingent!
We couldn’t have done it without each and every one of you, and we are humbled and grateful for your efforts, donations and attendance. It was truly a community effort, and we look forward to your continued support as we move forward on our mission to create, educate and advocate for the arts in our community. Thank you all, and please remember to support the arts!
